Marine Dynamics enjoys sightings of copper sharks (bronze whalers), visiting great white sharks and even the occasional stingray at our vessel. Great White Shark behaviour is less predictable post orca predation in 2017. Daily blog of sightings is available. All content on our website is the property of Marine Dynamics.
Please note that the Conservation Fee is compulsory. Please check the Add-on and specify the number of adults and children during the booking process. The booking will not be successful if this add-on is not selected and accounted for all members in the group.
Unlike bungy jumping or sky diving, the adrenaline rush from shark cage diving comes from being face to face with our ocean’s top predators.
The experience puts you in their territory while the safety of the activity allows you to be an observer and learn what these sharks are really like. An onboard marine biologist will educate you about these amazing predators.
Shark Cage Diving is safe for children and elders and gives the whole family a wonderful opportunity to bond in a fun environment surrounded by experts and researchers.
After this once in a lifetime experience, you’ll find yourself buzzing with excitement and adrenaline. You will have had the opportunity to come up close and personal with one of the oceans most majestic and foreboding creatures.
Here is a brief breakdown of what to expect once you arrive:
• Before the trip guests meet at THE GREAT WHITE HOUSE in Kleinbaai
• Guests receive a pre-trip safety briefing about what to expect during the trip and a biological background on great white sharks
• We then take a 200m stroll down to the harbour to board Slashfin
• Travel time to Dyer Island is approximately 20 minutes, with the shallows being a short 10-minute ride (where we anchor depends on where the sharks are)
• On average, we anchor for 2 hours, but this depends on shark activity, conditions, as well as the number of divers
• Weather permitting, we take a quick trip through the infamous Shark Alley
• Lastly, a debrief in the Great White House
Why We Are Different:
• A dedicated marine biologist onboard every trip
• Our Boat (Slashfin) is the largest in the industry (most deck space per customer) and was purposely built for shark cage diving and includes two restrooms, and an upper deck for the ultimate viewing and photography experience when not in the cage.
• A fully licensed Restaurant and Crew House, aptly named the GREAT WHITE HOUSE, which includes facilities such as 2 marine rooms where professional safety and informative briefings are given before each trip + separate ladies/gents/handicap restroom facilities with a 5-star rating + curio shop
• We guarantee clean, dry wetsuits (a rarity in the industry)
• Our crew receives as many compliments as the Great White Sharks, with more combined experience than any other Shark Cage Diving crew.
• You will leave with great memories and a deep appreciation of this majestic animal.
Thank you for paying the conservation fee, your money goes directly towards the Dyer Island Conservation Trust, enabling us to do research, monitoring, attend to marine animal strandings, rehabilitation- and marine conservation work. This would not be possible without your conservation fee. This fee ensures that the whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and African penguins of the Dyer Island Eco System, will be here, not only upon your return, but your children and grandchildren’s return.
A Shark Cage Dive / Viewing guided by a marine biologist, a light meal (breakfast or lunch depending on time of trip), refreshments on board and soup and bread on return is included.
Equipment such as wetsuits, booties, masks and towels is provided. Life jackets and waterproof jacket is alo supplied. Enjoy a hot water shower on board Slashfin.
A video link of your experience is included in the price.
All trips are weather and tide dependant and launch times may vary accordingly from those stated. Your launch time will be confirmed the day before.

I would really love more photos underwater. It would be great if there even could be a camera from behind to capture the event. - Nadine
my grandchildren listed the shark cage diving as their number one exciting adventure, this visit. bearing in mind that Gansbaai was up against, walking with elephants, game reserve visits, canoeing to Robberg in Plett, Bungi Jumping at Storms River, their enthusiasm for Shark Cage Diving puts your company at number one. the professionalism, the attention to personal comfort, (warm shower after dive, warm drinks), all made the service first class. thank you. - Bev
