Dive with Africa’s top apex predator, the Nile crocodile. Facilitated by experienced guides, crocodile cage ‘diving’ is a thrilling close encounter opportunity that includes a safety briefing. This takes place in our new, spacious and engineer approved cage that’s surrounded by water on all sides. 60 cm of the enclosure is above water.
Spend around 20 minutes in the crocs’ watery habitat and get to observe how these ambush predators behave in their element. The crocodile cage diving experience is both underwater and at surface level. Capture this once in a lifetime experience on your mobile device – cellphone pouches may be rented on site.
This experience is available for all water safe ages. We advise you keep a 2 to 3 day flexible schedule in mind when booking form months September – November and April – May, due to weather fluctuations. We will contact you to discuss the best weather conditions on or close to your booked dive during these months
Finally, for those looking for a thrill, experience being ‘hunted’ in the dark by Africa’s largest predator: hop into the waters of our crocodile cage while our biggest crocs try to get their own evening snack! These limited night dives promise to be both a safe and terrifying experience that you will never forget!
All our animal experiences are PAPA approved, assessed and rated by ‘Wild choices’, and puts the reptiles’ free will paramount. Similar to their being no guarentee to seeing a wild animal up close while travelling through a game park, no croc is or can be forced against its will to approach the cage. You will still be afforded the opportunity to view them from a closer vantage point than would ever be safe in the wild – and should the crocs be particularly shy on your dive experience, our guides will introduce additional value via a supplementary reptile experience.
Divers enter a stable cage set within a croc dam (cage enclosure is filled with clean filtered water) via a walkway and steps leading into the cage from above. The enclosure is encased by metal all around and on top, and boasts a seamless bowed acrylic panel allowing clear viewing of the reptiles. 60 cm of the enclosure is above water. Divers have the choice to view the reptiles under water, or surface level, or above water (the crocs even occasionally climb on top of the cage!)
Children that are water safe may participate. Life jackets available.
On weekends our dives are not conducted between 12:00 and 13:00 and every dive is weather dependent and the dive master reserves the right to cancel any dives should safety be a concern. In general the crocs are most ‘active’ on dives in the afternoon, around 3 pm.
Already the 2.nd time for us. Each time a great experience! We'll come again! - Doris
