Activity Overview:
Whether you are looking for an educational, heartfelt, or relaxed experience, the Captivated by Chardonnay tour promises to exceed your expectations.
This one hour underground tour is divided into three parts. Visitors will start by learning where Chardonnay is produced in the world and how it spread to the Robertson Valley. Secondly, the tour will focus on the winemaker’s philosophy, the hand of the artisan, and why he pursues an elegant, unpretentious style in Chardonnay. Lastly, visitors will move to the deepest part of the underground tour where they will be looking at the history of wine dating back to 500 years B.C. The tour ends with a poetry reading, written by Philip Jonker, while visitors sip on the exclusive Poet’s Prayer Chardonnay.
This tour is an in-depth experience of the essence of Chardonnay, geography, geology, history, and hope. Visitors can experience all of this while savouring this noble cultivar in the dimly lit underground wine tanks.

We absolutely loved the experience!! It was so unique and honestly captivating is the best word to describe it. It was my second time, I've went with a group of girlfriends two weeks before and just had to go back with my husband and biggest client and his wife, it is a must do experience. We've also had the priviledge of meeting Phillip Jonker before our tour, what an amazing person with a giving back to society kind of life style. - LINDI
An absolutely marvelous experience complemented by outstanding wines. - Kobus

Very good insight into Chardonnay !! Previously we steered clear of this, but our eyes were opened by the unique taste of your product. I can definately say that we were quite surprised by the taste. - Eric
Rochelle Vlok: Die proe ervaring was fantasties, gelaai met interessante inligting en 'n besondere ervaring aan die hand van die uitstekende toergids. Fearika Heyns: The Chardonnay tour at Weltevrede was superb, so much detail went into explaining the development of this respected cultivar from the early stages up to the proud Calcrete wines that are now produced in this part of the country. To hear about the history and the place it takes amongst other competitors in this area was heartwarming. Tasting a wide variety of Chardonnay wines in the unique underground reconstructed cellar and the presentation by our very knowledgeable tour guide, Zizi will be remembered for a long time. Also the respect he shows for the wine master, Philip Jonker. - Eza
