One of Panthera Africa’s main purposes is to be an educational platform where we create awareness about the conditions big cats face in captivity, and how animal welfare and enrichment plays a vital role in giving them the best captive life possible. We are a true sanctuary where no cub petting, breeding or trading takes place.
On our educational visits you have the chance of capturing photographs of the big cats in their beautiful Natural homes, and get to know about their unique stories, in addition to the important facts about the species and their different situations. We strongly believe in the importance of educating you about animal welfare and conservation, so together with a staff member you will be taken for a lovely walk whilst admiring the beautiful cats.

My wife and I visited Panthera prior to a return visit with 3 grandkids and several other family members the following week. Both visits were amazing eye-opening experiences with two different staff guides. Both guides did excellent presentations to the animals and setting. The second visit had us accompany the grandkids, with other children in the group as well. That presentation was well suited for the their age group but provided ample opportunity for questions/answers covering any topic. We highly recommend anyone to visit the site. The story of how the animals arrived at Panthera is amazing and moving. The dedication of the two founding women is captivating and convincing! We had a wonderful time visiting Panthera Sanctuary. Cat is passionate about what she does and have so much knowledge. We loved how she shared stories and taught us so much. She was also wonderfully engaged with our children. The sanctuary is very well maintained and you can see the animals are very happy and healthy. We had our grandchildren with us for an outing and an outing it was. They thoroughly enjoyed it and found it entertaining and educational at the same time.
